What a labor of love this little pattern has been!
Well, for the most part it kind of just came together. I was knitting a stocking for several someone specials and wanted them all to be different, so started designing charts for the third one. My daughter loved the hearts I drafted so much she asked for a hat. I just came together so effortlessly, it was like it was meant to be!
I am having a love affair with intarsia lately, and this hat has just enough to satisfy my need for colorwork without being taxing. I made Magdalena’s hat in one Sunday. It really is quick!
The pompom really brings it all together!
I feel like this hat has just the right amount of slouch too!
The pattern is in three sizes, small medium, and large; to fit a 3-7-year-old, an 8-11-year-old and an adult. Keep in mind everyone’s head size is different. It requires two colors of worsted weight yarn, size seven circulars and DPNs or whatever you prefer to knit in the round and need to get gauge!
For the adult hat I used knitpicks wool of the andes for the white and cadcade220 for the red, and MadelineTosh vintage for the colorful one on my kiddo’s, and wool of the andes for the green.
